I completed the lighting, making only one gaffe. I knew I wanted the switch for the light to be on the upper port bulkhead. After installing the battery, and bus bar (2 bar type with positive/negative feeds), I wanted to install the switch where the wiring could be run as straight as possible. I know I am not supposed to run wiring at strange angles and tried my hardest to keep them running parallel course and making right angle turns close to panels. When I drilled the hole to mount the switch I accidentally chose a spot 1/4 inch thicker than the switch would mount into, thus creating a 3/8" hole in an otherwise pristine panel.
small divot above switch is where the panel is too thick. |
Ok, now what? Ah....the tube of grey sealant that I had just used to seal the hatches over the floatation would come in handy here. A smudge of it in the hole blends in nearly perfectly. I then went an inch lower and put the hole in only the 1/2" ply. This is a very neat installation.
