I have discovered that fishing is best done facing forwards and using the oar in a paddle style to keep the bow aimed as desired.  Over the past couple of days, I have been making a 10 kayak style paddle to assist with this.  Following plans by Ken Simpson, I have made the blades and ribs for the blades from extra plywood not used in  building Vireo.  A 10 piece of 1.25" pvc pipe and a 1" wooden dowel complete the project.  Out of pocket expense was $9 at Lowes.  Already had all else.  Hope to finish it tomorrow and be ready for a test run this weekend.

footnote - paddles are almost done by 6 PM same day.  Need to shape the paddles, glass edges, and screw to PVC.  I did put the recommended 15 degree offset, might go with 22.5 next time as it is easier to calculate and visualize.
